If I Offend You I Am Not Sorry

I am a Christian, heterosexual, politically conservative, socially moderate, right leaning, about half white, cis-female(why do I even have to clarify this?) woman that voted majority Republican in the last presidential election and knows the gender pay gap is a myth, climate change is normal, supports the right bear arms, knows illegal immigration is illegal, and already knows my place in this world. If any of these things trigger you then you seriously need to find a safe space because this will not be it. Might I suggest finding a corner to suck your thumb with your comfort blanket and your super special needs service animal until you have enough courage to click away from my page.

I am tired of feeling like I have to walk on eggshells because I might offend someone. When did we become so sensitive as a country that we cannot even handle well-meaning constructive criticism with being "triggered"? We used to be a country that had a backbone and were proud of who we were. We used to celebrate our history...even the history that isn't so pretty...because it made us who we are (or were. I don't know anymore).

I can't help thinking about what our forefathers would think or what the men and women who have died for our country would feel if they were to see what it has become. If you watch the news then it looks like it has become a giant temper tantrum from a bunch of adult toddlers who cry and scream like that is going to change anything.

Now, I have a feeling this is going to cost me some friends because I have never really been too terribly vocal about my opinion. But, if this is the reason you do not want to associate with me anymore then the problem is not me. I do not have to agree with you and you do not have to agree with me on every issue for us to have a relationship. We are not a hive mind. We are individuals with unique backgrounds and experiences. I cannot change anyone's mind and I am not trying to do that. I am just tired of what I am seeing everyday.

Here is the thing; the guy you didn't want to win did something everyone thought was nearly impossible and won. Instead of having meltdowns and take days off of work to show how important you are do something productive with your life. Get a hobby. A lot of you could benefit greatly from writing, painting, punching a bag until it breaks...anything but cry all the time about how your life isn't fair and how everyone who isn't white is marginalized.

It is time to grow up.
